Justin Bozzo founded Bozzo Law in July 2020, shortly after being called to the Ontario Bar. What began as the ambitious project of a new lawyer hanging his own shingle has since grown into a law and mediation practice serving clients in Toronto, Waterloo and across Ontario.

Advocacy & Dispute Resolution

Justin's practice is rooted in civil litigation and dispute resolution. He has obtained and enforced a $363,000 judgment from the Ontario Court of Appeal, succeeded on applications involving commercial and personal property, conducted examinations and cross-examinations, represented clients in civil and administrative disputes, and negotiated resolutions involving insurers, financial institutions, contractors, police, government and other parties.

Those experiences have reinforced something Justin believes strongly: being a good advocate does not mean fighting for the sake of fighting.

​

There is a time to litigate and a time to resolve. The difficult part—and often the most valuable part of a lawyer's work—is knowing the difference. Justin strives to be an ally to his clients: someone prepared to advocate courageously when necessary, but equally prepared to give candid advice when settlement, compromise or another path makes better sense.

​

That philosophy extends naturally to Justin's work in alternative dispute resolution. He is a roster mediator with Ontario's Mandatory Mediation Program in Toronto, Ottawa and Windsor, where he mediates civil matters using facilitative and, where appropriate, evaluative approaches. He has also served as a community mediator and conflict coach.

Teaching & Professional Development

Teaching has become another important part of Justin's professional life. As an instructor and campus lead in an accredited Ontario paralegal program, he has taught 18 different legal subjects, including evidence, advocacy, alternative dispute resolution, and small claims.

​

For Justin, teaching is not simply about knowing the answer. It is about communicating difficult ideas clearly, challenging assumptions, listening to different perspectives and remaining humble enough to recognize that there is always more to learn.

A Different Path to Law

That willingness to move between disciplines predates law.

​

Before becoming a lawyer, Justin spent nearly two decades as a musician and performer. He led and managed a professional rock band, released original music and performed over 1,000 shows across Canada and the United States. Years spent writing songs, managing musicians and performing for different audiences taught him lessons in communication, creativity, entrepreneurship, preparation and performance under pressure—lessons that remain useful in a courtroom, boardroom and classroom.

Justin earned his Juris Doctor from Queen's University Faculty of Law, where he received course prizes in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Family Law, among other awards. Before law school, he studied Philosophy at McMaster University, graduating summa cum laude.

​

Writing has remained a constant throughout all of it.

​

So has learning.

​

Justin believes that neither a law degree nor years in practice represent the end of a lawyer's education. Good professionals keep reading, listening, challenging themselves and adapting. The objective is not simply to know more, but to exercise better judgment in service of the people who rely on them.
